This Introductory Screenwriting Workshop is geared to the aspirations of anyone wishing to learn about the art and craft of screenwriting. The one-day seminar will introduce attendees to different schools of screenwriting, from Robert McKee to Syd Field. The students will learn how to turn an idea into a story through lateral and vertical brainstorming exercises. Finally, the workshop will cover basic industry standard formatting and how to get started on writing a screenplay. Students should prepare in advance by bringing a story line that they would like to work with and to plan to share their ideas throughout the afternoon.

Eva Ziemsen is an independent filmmaker and a Professor and Program Co-Coordinator of the Film & Television Production Program at Humber College in Toronto, Canada. She has written, directed and produced several short films through her company, Cineva Films Inc., which have been screened at festivals internationally and on CBC. She is currently in development with three feature films and recently taught an intensive screenwriting workshop in Bhutan. She holds a Master of Arts in Feature Film from Goldsmiths College at the University of London, England and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film & Video from York University, Toronto.

Space is limited, so be sure to pre-register for this workshop in person at our Tourism Barrie box office located at (Southshore Centre) 205 Lakeshore Drive, Barrie.
